I’ve mentioned my barber Nick here several times over the years but I’ve never posted a photo.

So here he is.

I walked into Nick’s shop in Astoria Wednesday about 12:30 PM and he was in full rehearsal mode.  A young woman sang in Greek from a seat on the visitor’s bench.  Nick sat in the barber’s chair playing the bouzouki.

“Gimme two minutes,” he said as I hung up my jacket on his shop’s coat rack.

Nick and the woman did a couple numbers as I looked on.  It was a beautiful way to precede a haircut on a receding hairline.

Nick really jams on that thing.  He sings harmony too.  I clapped when he and the woman completed the performance.

When he was done trimming my mop-like, balding dome, he looked it over and offered his usual assessment of a job completed.  “Bravo,” he said.  “Bravo.”
